Roy Kelton Had 22 Top 40 Pop Hits And According To Elvis Presley: "The Greatest Pop Singer In The World". Roy Grew Up In Wink, Texas And Later Moved 50 Miles To Odessa Where He And The Teen Kings Had Weekly TV Shows. Roy's First Big Hit, "Only The Lonely" In 1960, Was Co-Written With Joe Melson Another Singer/Guitarist From the Area. In 1961 Roy Hit The Very Top Of The Charts With "Running Scared" And Then Again In 1964 With "Oh, Pretty Woman" RIAA Certified Gold. In 4 Decades He Would Sell An Estimated 50 Million Records World-Wide And In 1980 Received A Grammy For A Duet With Emmylou Harris "That Lovin' You Feelin' Again". In 1988 He Recorded An Album With "The Traveling Wilburys" (Bob Dyland, George Harrison, Tom Petty & Jeff Lynne) Selling 2 Million Copies With Roy Assuming The Name Of Lefty Wilbury (In Honor Of His Early Influence Lefty Frizzell). In 1989 Roy's "Mystery Girl" Album (Included The Hit Single "You Got It") Went Platinum. His Very First Band "The Wink Westerners" Played Regular On KERB Radio In Kermit & Week-Ends At The Archway Club (The Rockhouse) In Monahans (1951). In 1956 Roy & The Teen Kings Performed On The Big D Jamboree In Dallas Along With Vocalist Charlene Arthur From Kermit. His Sedentary Life-Style (Weighed 210 At One Point In Time) And Smoking Contributed To His Short Life-Span. Besides Being A Great Singer/Songwriter Roy Was A Great Rockabilly Guitar Player.
