VIKKI CARR
Florencia Cardona (Vikki Carr) Was Born In The Far West Texas City Of El Paso And Raised In California. She First Began Performing At Age 4. In 1961 She Was Signed To Liberty Records And Became A Regular On The Ray Anthony Musical Variety Show. In 1962 She Recorded Her Biggest Hit "It Must Be Him" That Topped The English Charts Plus Reaching #3 In The U.S. Receiving 3 Grammy Nominations. The Song Was Featured In The Academy Award Winning Movie "Moonstruck" And Her Album Reached #12 In Billboard. Her 1969 Recording Of "With Pen In Hand" Also Received A Grammy Nomination. It Wasn't Until 1972 That She Made Her Very First Appearence In Mexico Where She Became Very Popular. She Received The Nosotros Golden Eagle Award In 1988, The Hispanic Woman Of The Year Award In 1986, The Hollywood Walk Of Fame In 1981, The American Guild Entertainer Of The Year In 1972 And The Los Angeles Woman Of The Year Award In 1970. One Of The Best-Loved And Most Accomplished Entertainers In The U.S., Latin America And Europe. She Has Performed For The Queen Of England And 5 U.S. Presidents. Her Music Embraces Two Languages Paving The Way For Others. Very Active In Charities She Has Set Up Scholarship Funds For Chicano Children.
