JIMMY DEAN
Jimmy Dean was born in Plainview (south of Lubbock). In the 60’s he had his own TV show on ABC & CBS giving many entertainers, including Patsy Cline, Roy Clark & Roger Miller, their first big break. He was Fess Parker’s sidekick in the TV series “The Daniel Boone show”. Jimmy was the very first guest on the Johnny Carson Show. In his youth he learned how to make sausage from his grandfather and in later years would own the #1 selling sausage company in America.
After merging with Sara Lee he became a multimillionaire. In 1990 he married country singer Donna Meade. They now live on the James River in Richmond, Virginia. He was inducted into the Virginia Country Music HOF in 1997 along with the Texas Country Music HOF (Carthage) in 2005. He retired from the music and food business. An exhibit of his life is on display at the Texas Country HOF.
